RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – Multiple sources told North Press on Monday that Turkish-backed Syrian factions deployed additional military reinforcements around the Tishrin Dam in northern Syria earlier in the day.
For months, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have repelled repeated attacks by Turkish-backed factions operating under the umbrella of the Syrian National Army (SNA) following the collapse of Bashar al-Assad’s control in many parts of the country.
In recent weeks, the frontlines around the dam had seen relative calm, amid reports of a U.S.-brokered ceasefire between the SDF and Turkish forces.
No formal announcement has been made by any of the involved parties.
A government source in Damascus attributed the latest military buildup to what he described as the SDF’s failure to honor agreements signed with the Syrian state.
As of the time of reporting, neither the Syrian government nor the SDF had issued an official statement regarding the developments.
