Jordanian army foils major drug smuggling attempt from Syria
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Jordanian army announced on Monday that it had thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics from Syrian territory into Jordan.
According to the Jordanian news outlet al-Mamlaka TV, a military source stated that Border Guard forces, in coordination with security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, monitored a group of smugglers attempting to illegally cross the border from Syria into Jordan.
The source reported that the border forces engaged the group, resulting in several smugglers being injured while others fled back into Syrian territory.
Subsequent search and inspection operations in the area led to the discovery of a significant quantity of illicit drugs, according to the statement.
