U.S. representative joins Kurdish Unity Conference in Syria’s Qamishli
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The representative of the United States arrived on Saturday in the city of Qamishli, northeastern Syria, to attend the Kurdish Unity Conference, currently underway.
Earlier, an official from the U.S. Department of State told North Press that Washington welcomes the resumption of the intra-Kurdish dialogue.
Mazloum Abdi, Commander in Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), emphasized that unifying the Kurdish position does not mean dividing Syria. On the contrary, he said, it reinforces the country’s territorial integrity, noting that the Kurds have long fought for Syria’s unity.
In a message delivered by Hamid Darbandi, the public relations officer in the Presidency of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI), Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani stressed that unifying Kurdish ranks is crucial for achieving a just solution to the Kurdish issue in Syria.
