Two Killed, One Injured in Landmine Blast in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor Countryside
DEIR EZZOR, Syria (North Press) – Two young men were killed and a third was injured on Thursday following the explosion of a landmine left behind from previous military operations in eastern Syria’s Deir ez-Zor countryside.
A local source said the mine detonated while the men were clearing an abandoned agricultural field near al-Salihiyah Bridge in the town of Khasham. The area once contained military positions, and had been avoided by locals for years.
The victims were identified as Khaled Mohammad al-Ramadan (31) and Ahmad al-Mohammad (29). A third person sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby medical facility.
The blast occurred in an area that, according to residents, has not been cleared of explosive remnants from previous conflicts.
