Multiple attacks target SDF in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Several attacks were carried out on Tuesday evening against the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, though no group has claimed responsibility for any of the incidents.
A military source close to the SDF told North Press that unidentified gunmen armed with RPGs and machine guns targeted an SDF outpost on the banks of the Euphrates River in the town of Diban, prompting intense clashes between the two sides.
One SDF fighter was injured, and the outpost sustained material damage, the source noted.
The source added that gunmen on a motorcycle launched a separate attack on an SDF military vehicle in the town of al-Busayrah in eastern Deir ez-Zor. No casualties or injuries were reported in that incident.
In a third attack, unidentified gunmen detonated an explosive device targeting an SDF vehicle near a dirt road in the al-Hawi neighborhood of the village of al-Jarzi, resulting in the injury of two SDF members.
These incidents follow a series of similar attacks last week, during which gunmen carried out three assaults against SDF forces in the same region. The Islamic State (ISIS) claimed responsibility for two of those attacks.
