DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Jordan’s General Intelligence Department announced on Tuesday that it had thwarted plots aimed at undermining national security, inciting chaos, and causing material sabotage within the country.
According to authorities, 16 individuals affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood were arrested. The suspects had received training and funding to carry out attacks using missiles and drones against targets inside Jordan.
Officials revealed that at least one missile was fully prepared for launch, as part of an operation that had been under close surveillance since 2021. Security forces also uncovered a missile manufacturing facility and a drone production site linked to the suspects.
The General Intelligence Department said the plots were intended to harm national security and spread chaos and destruction across the Kingdom.
The detainees reportedly received training in Lebanon. During their confessions, they identified their trainer as being based in Lebanon. All 16 suspects have been referred to the State Security Court for prosecution.
In response, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam assured his Jordanian counterpart in a phone call of Lebanon’s willingness to cooperate fully, pursue the suspect, and inspect the reported training sites.
