AANES receives joint British-European delegation in Syria’s Qamishli
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) welcomed on Monday a delegation of British and European parliamentarians to the region, the AANES announced on Tuesday.
Ilham Ahmad, Co-Chair of the AANES’ Department of Foreign Relations, received the visiting delegation and held discussions focused on the latest political developments in Syria, the ongoing economic challenges in the region, and the implications of climate change.
According to a statement from the Department of Foreign Relations, Ahmad briefed the delegation on the current status of negotiations between the AANES and the Syrian transitional government, the committees formed as part of these talks, and the progress of intra-Kurdish dialogue.
She also shared the AANES’ stance on the draft constitutional declaration.
The visiting lawmakers expressed interest in identifying practical mechanisms for economic support to the region, especially in light of climate-related challenges that have increasingly affected local communities in recent years.
The delegation also conveyed its intention to present its findings to the foreign ministries of EU member states, with the aim of strengthening political and economic relations with the AANES and promoting broader international support for stability in the region.
