ISIS claims two of three attacks on SDF in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Unknown gunmen launched on Sunday three separate attacks on the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the Deir ez-Zor countryside, eastern Syria, two of which the Islamic State (ISIS) claimed responsibility for.
A military source in Deir ez-Zor told North Press that gunmen riding a motorcycle targeted an SDF military vehicle in the town of Shuhail in eastern Deir ez-Zor, killing one fighter and injuring another.
At the same time, a similar attack occurred in the nearby town of Diban, where unknown gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on another SDF vehicle traveling on the main road. This attack also left one fighter dead and another wounded.
A third attack took place in the town of al-Hejjnah in eastern Deir ez-Zor, where unidentified gunmen attacked an SDF checkpoint, injuring one member. The attackers managed to flee the scene.
Within hours, ISIS claimed responsibility for the two attacks in Shuhail and Diban through affiliated media channels.
