SDF denies rocket fire on western bank of Euphrates in Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) denied on Sunday responsibility for rocket fire that reportedly struck the western bank of the Euphrates River in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, Syria.

The announcement came in response to videos circulated Saturday night by local media platforms, allegedly showing the aftermath of two rockets landing in the town of al-Mayadin, south of Deir ez-Zor.

The posts claimed the rockets were launched from areas under SDF control east of the Euphrates.

In an official statement, the SDF said that reports alleging that rocket fire targeting al-Mayadin originated from their areas of control are baseless and inaccurate, and that they have no connection to these incidents.

The SDF added that the town of Shuhail, located nearby on the eastern bank, also witnessed three unidentified projectiles landing in its vicinity the previous evening.

The statement indicated that the SDF’s forces are actively investigating these recent incidents to determine their origin.

Footage shared by activists also showed the aftermath of the explosions in Shuhail, with some attributing them to possible Coalition training exercises in the area.
