Global Coalition, SDF, Syrian government officials visit Tishrin Dam
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – A delegation from the U.S.-led Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS visited on Saturday the Tishrin Dam in northern Syria, accompanied by representatives of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Syrian Transitional Government.
The high-level visit was conducted under tight security, with Coalition helicopters patrolling the airspace above the region during the delegation’s presence.
The visit follows a relative calm on the ground after over three months of intense clashes between the SDF and the Turkish-supported Syrian National Army.
Sources familiar with the situation confirmed that a formal ceasefire agreement is expected to be announced soon between Turkey and the SDF, with Washington mediating the truce.
Earlier this week, Ilham Ahmad, Co-Chair of the External Relations Department of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), praised the U.S. role in facilitating the current de-escalation.
She emphasized that ensuring the security of Syria’s neighboring borders remains a top priority for the AANES.
The Tishrin Dam, a strategic infrastructure facility on the Euphrates River, holds both military and civilian significance, making it a critical site for maintaining regional stability.
