War remnants kill, injure 600 in Syria since December – HRW
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Human Rights Watch (HRW) revealed on Tuesday that more than 600 people were killed or injured in Syria due to landmines and explosive remnants of war since the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime in December 2024.
“Over 600 people, including children, have been killed or injured by landmines and explosive remnants of war across Syria since December 2024,” the HRW announced in a fresh report.
The report highlighted the widespread contamination across the country, warning that it poses deadly risks to civilians returning to their homes.
The HRW urged the government in Damascus to address the issue urgently, saying, “The Syrian transitional government and international donors must prioritize surveying, clearance, and risk education efforts.”
