52,000 Syrian refugees returned from Jordan after regime fall – UNHCR

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) announced on Monday that over 52,000 Syrian refugees in Jordan have returned to Syria between Dec. 8, 2024—the date marking the fall of the Assad regime—and March 29, 2025.

According to a UNHCR report, published by Jordan’s Al-Mamlaka TV, the daily average of returnees reached 372 individuals, more than doubling the previous average of 180 returns per day in the preceding weeks.

The report also noted that since the reopening of the Jaber-Nassib border crossing in 2018, approximately 106,943 Syrian refugees have returned from Jordan to their home country.

In total, the UNHCR stated that 372,550 Syrian refugees have crossed back into Syria from countries including Jordan, Turkey, Lebanon, Iraq, Egypt, and others since the fall of the regime up to April 3.

Additionally, as of March 27, over one million internally displaced persons (IDPs) have reportedly returned to their homes across Syria.
