Aleppo authorities deny reports of failed prisoner exchange with SDF

ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – The Aleppo Information Directorate denied on Sunday reports claiming that a prisoner exchange agreement between the Syrian transitional government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) had collapsed.

According to the Directorate, which cited Syria’s state-run news agency (SANA), there is no truth to the reports regarding the suspension of the prisoner exchange between the Aleppo Security Directorate and the SDF.

The statement affirmed that the agreement—comprising 14 clauses and involving the release of detainees by the SDF and the transfer of a group of SDF fighters to areas east of the Euphrates River—is still in effect and proceeding according to schedule.

The Directorate added that the agreement is being implemented in line with the agreed-upon timetable, and accused certain forces and parties of attempting to undermine the political process by spreading misinformation.

It concluded by confirming that the exchange of detainees will continue in the coming days.
