Netanyahu to discuss Syria, Turkish involvement with Trump

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to discuss the situation in Syria and Turkey’s growing role there during an upcoming meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, Bloomberg reported on Sunday.

The announcement came after the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office confirmed on Saturday that Netanyahu would depart for Washington later that day, following an official invitation from President Trump.

The visit follows heightened tensions between Israel and Turkey over developments in Syria. During a press conference in Paris last week, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz accused Ankara of attempting to impose its influence over Syria, referencing recent Israeli airstrikes on Syrian territory.

In response, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated on the same day that Turkey does not seek any confrontation with Israel on Syrian soil, despite the continued escalation of Israeli attacks targeting military sites within Syria.
