Israeli official says operations in Syria aim at ensuring security

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – An Israeli military official stated on Saturday that Israeli forces are conducting operations in the Syrian buffer zone to maintain security and prevent potential threats.

In remarks reported by The Wall Street Journal, the official clarified that while there is no curfew in the village of Hamidiya in southern Syria, movement within the area is being monitored and controlled.

Israel has only detained individuals suspected of involvement in terrorist activities, the official said.

Earlier on Saturday, the Israeli forces released a statement confirming that the Paratroopers Brigade, under the command of the Division 210, is engaged in defensive operations within Syrian territory. The objective, according to the statement, is to neutralize threats against Israel—particularly those targeting residents of the Golan Heights.

Following the fall of the al-Assad regime, Israeli forces advanced into the buffer zone, reaching as far as Mount Hermon—overlooking Damascus—and extending into the Daraa countryside.
