Israeli strikes on Syria’s Daraa leave 37 casualties – Official

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The latest toll from Israeli airstrikes on Daraa in southern Syria, reached 10 fatalities and 27 injuries, Zuheir Qarrat, Director of Planning and International Cooperation at the Syrian Ministry of Health, said on Thursday.

According to Syria’s state-run news agency SANA, local armed groups in Daraa Governorate engaged an Israeli military convoy near Jabaliya Dam, west of the city of Nawa, after Israeli forces advanced toward Tel al-Jumu.

The ensuing clashes and bombardment resulted in nine deaths and multiple injuries.

Qarrat confirmed to North Press that the Ministry of Health remains in direct contact with the Daraa Health Directorate, emphasizing the urgent need for medical supplies and personnel in the governorate’s hospitals.

He highlighted severe shortages of essential medicines and medical consumables.

“There is a critical need for specialized medical staff, particularly in anesthesia and intensive care,” Qarrat stated.

He added that the ministry is mobilizing volunteer medical teams to be dispatched to Daraa, while necessary medications and supplies are expected to arrive later today.

A medical source at Nawa National Hospital told North Press that the facility is experiencing an acute shortage of medical supplies, particularly surgical instruments and blood bags.

The source reported that approximately 25 people sustained injuries of varying severity, with critical vascular cases transferred to Daraa National Hospital for specialized care.
