Lebanese army shuts down 2 illegal border crossings with Syria

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) –
The Lebanese Army announced on Wednesday the closure of two illegal border crossings along its northern and eastern frontiers with Syria.

In an official statement, the army said the move is part of ongoing efforts to curb smuggling and unauthorized crossings between the two countries.

The closed crossings are located in the areas of al-Doura – Hermel and Mashari‘ al-Qaa.

Tensions along the Lebanese-Syrian border have escalated in recent weeks. On March 17, clashes erupted between the Syrian army and armed groups following the killing of three Syrian Defense Ministry personnel by Lebanese militants in the border area of al-Qasr.
