Syria to implement 400% salary increase after formation of cabinet

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Director of Planning and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Finance at Syria’s caretaker government, Mohammad al-Atassi, confirmed on Tuesday that the implementation of the 400 percent salary increase for public sector employees will take effect after the formation of the new government.

In an exclusive statement to North Press, al-Atassi assured that the salary increase decision is final and will not be reversed.

He emphasized the necessity of considering various logistical and financial factors before execution, stating that such significant measures can only be implemented following the formation of the new cabinet or a ministerial reshuffle.

He further explained that the salary increase will be introduced in phases according to a structured timetable, with each phase progressing based on economic conditions and available resources.

Regarding the Eid al-Fitr financial grant, al-Atassi stated that its funding comes from the state treasury, highlighting that cost savings were achieved through initial measures to streamline financial operations and combat corruption.

He also noted that the allocation of the grant was determined based on a directive from the President.
