Lebanon closes 6 illegal border crossings with Syria
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Lebanese forces announced on Sunday the closure of six illegal border crossings with Syria.
According to an official statement, these crossings are located in the areas of al-Qaa Projects, Hosh al-Sayed Ali, and Qabsh-Hermel along the Syrian border.
The Lebanese forces stated that this measure is part of ongoing efforts to combat infiltration and smuggling operations across the northern and eastern borders.
Last week, clashes erupted between the Syrian army and armed groups along the Syrian-Lebanese border after three members of the Syrian Ministry of Defense were killed by Lebanese militants in the al-Qasr area.
In a related development, the Lebanese army recently entered neighborhoods in the border town of Hosh al-Sayed Ali following an agreement between the intelligence agencies of both countries.
The intervention came after a call between Lebanese Defense Minister Michel Mansi and his Syrian counterpart Murhaf Abu Qasra, which resulted in a ceasefire and the withdrawal of militants from both sides.
