Hezbollah strikes in Homs kill 8 Syrian military personnel, 2 civilians
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Eight Syrian military personnel and two civilians were killed on Monday following an attack by Hezbollah in the countryside of Homs, western Syria.
Also a journalist and a photographer were injured near the Syrian-Lebanese border, west of the city of Homs, near the Zeita Dam.
A military source cited by Syria TV said that two civilians and eight Syrian military personnel were killed in Hezbollah’s shelling of the Homs countryside.
The General Directorate of Information in Homs told SANA that a journalist and a photographer sustained injuries after being directly targeted by a guided missile launched by Hezbollah near the Zeita Dam, west of Homs.
A source from the Syrian Ministry of Defense confirmed that “there is ongoing coordination between the Syrian and Lebanese armies to secure the border.”
On Sunday, clashes erupted between the Syrian army and armed groups along the border after three Defense Ministry personnel were killed by Lebanese gunmen in the al-Qusair border region.
The Lebanese Army announced that villages and towns in Lebanon had been shelled from inside Syrian territory. In response, Lebanese military units retaliated by targeting the sources of fire.
