Turkish forces bomb town in Syria’s Hasakah

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – Turkish forces and their affiliated armed factions shelled on Wednesday Tel Tamr, a town in the northern countryside of Hasakah, northeastern Syria.

North Press correspondent said, several mortar and artillery shells struck various neighborhoods within the town, causing material damage to homes and properties.

The correspondent added that no casualties were reported, but the attack triggered widespread fear among residents.

Zubair Ibrahim, a local whose home in the Hamra neighborhood was hit, told North Press: “Thankfully, we were not inside the house when it was struck.”

This marks the first Turkish bombardment of Tel Tamr’s town center since the Turkish forces advanced to the outskirts of the town following their 2019 offensive, which led to the capture of the cities of Ras al-Ain (Sere Kaniye) and Tel Abyad.

Earlier on Wednesday, a senior official from Turkey’s Ministry of Defense confirmed that Turkish military operations against “Kurdish fighters” in northern Syria would continue, despite the recent agreement between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Syria’s caretaker government.
