Turkey kills 4 children in attacks near Tishrin Dam in north Syria
MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said on Tuesday that Turkish forces escalated their attacks on Monday, targeting areas around Tishrin Dam and Qaraqozaq in southwest of Kobani, northern Syria.
In an official statement, the SDF said Turkey and its affiliated armed factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), are intensifying their assaults across northeastern Syria, leading to the death of three children in the countryside of Sirrin.
The statement detailed that a Turkish drone strike hit residential homes in Jaraf village, killing one child and injuring two others.
According to the SDF, Turkish forces carried out heavy bombardment of multiple villages in Qaraqozaq’s countryside. The attack involved heavy artillery, tanks, rocket launchers, and mortars, with more than 70 shells fired at these areas.
The statement also highlighted continued artillery shelling on the northern and southern countryside of Tishrin Dam, which lasted throughout Sunday night into Monday, causing extensive damage to civilian homes and igniting fires in several houses.
Additionally, Turkish warplanes carried out airstrikes on the dam’s surroundings. By midday Monday, Turkish forces resumed their bombardment, targeting workers’ residences near the dam and other locations, resulting in material damage to the structures.
