Kuwait welcomes SDF-Government agreement as “a step toward stability”

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Kuwait welcomed on Tuesday the agreement between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Syrian caretaker government, which outlines the recognition of Kurdish rights and ensures integration of institutions.

In an official statement, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the agreement as “an important step toward enhancing security and stability.”

The statement further emphasized that “the integration of SDF’s military and civilian institutions in northeastern Syria into the Syrian state’s administration is a crucial move in the efforts to rebuild the state and its institutions while reinforcing security and stability in Syria.”

Earlier on Tuesday, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) expressed their support for the agreement, highlighting its potential impact on Syria’s future.

On Monday, Commander-in-Chief of the SDF, Mazloum Abdi, and Syria’s Transitional President, Ahmad al-Sharaa, signed an agreement in People’s Palace in Damascus to recognize Kurdish rights and ensure the integration of key institutions, and sets the framework for joint security cooperation.
