SDF-Government agreement aims to halt coastal violence – Ilham Ahmad

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Ilham Ahmad, co-chair of the Foreign Relations Department of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), stated on Monday evening that the agreement between the Syrian state and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) was reached to put an end to the ongoing violence on the Syrian coast.

In a post on X, Ahmad explained that the agreement is directly linked to the unfolding events in coastal regions and aims to halt military operations not only there but across all Syrian territories.

She expressed hope that this agreement would serve as a stepping stone toward comprehensive national reconciliation and a genuine transitional justice process, ensuring the active participation of Kurds and all other Syrian communities in the political framework.

Additionally, she emphasized that the agreement could facilitate the safe return of displaced individuals and expatriates, stating, “Syria’s strength lies in its diversity and the capabilities of its people.”

Late on Monday, the Syrian Presidency confirmed the signing of an agreement that includes the integration of the SDF into Syrian state institutions.
