General Security forces arrest 8 wanted individuals in Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The General Security forces of the caretaker government arrested on Sunday eight wanted individuals on various charges in the city of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

A security source told North Press that the General Security patrols launched raids in Deir ez-Zor and its countryside, following an uptick in attacks on security headquarters and personnel, as well as reports from residents about armed individuals impersonating security officers.

According to the source, the raids led to the arrest of Ali al-Thallaj, Fouad al-Khalaf, Abdel Karim al-Muhammad, and Ayser al-Ayoub, who were allegedly hiding in Deir ez-Zor and accused of planning attacks on government headquarters and civilian institutions.

Earlier, Diaa al-Omar, Director of the General Security forces in Deir ez-Zor, confirmed the arrest of four leaders affiliated with the Assad regime in what he described as a precise security operation.

Additionally, the source revealed that security forces raided a drug den in al-Mayadin, where an exchange of fire occurred before the arrest of two drug dealers, one of whom was identified as Tawfiq al-Shuiti.

Furthermore, two members of the Iranian-backed Regiment 47 were apprehended in Abu Kamal on charges of refusing to comply with a settlement agreement with government forces.
