Asayish open settlement center for Assad regime members in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) announced on Sunday the opening of a settlement center in Deir ez-Zor countryside, eastern Syria, to process the status of former members of the Syrian regime’s security and military apparatus.
In an official statement, the Asayish said the center, located in the seven villages in the east of Euphrates River, will handle the status of former regime employees, military personnel, and ex-members of Iranian-backed militias.
The villages of al-Hussainiyah, al-Salihiyah, Hatla, Marrat, Mazloum, Khsham, and al-Tabiyyah had been under the control of the Syrian government forces and Iranian-backed militias since the expulsion of ISIS in late 2017. The area served as a strategic base for Iranian militias to launch attacks on military installations east of the Euphrates.
The Interior Board of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) warned that individuals who fail to report to the settlement center by March 17 will face legal consequences.
