Landmine blasts in Deir ez-Zor kill, injure 4

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Two people were killed and two children injured on Saturday in separate landmine explosions in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.

A local source said that a landmine, a remnant of past conflicts, detonated near shepherds grazing their livestock on the outskirts of al-Quriyah, east of Deir ez-Zor, killing two cousins: 18-year-old Yazid al-Majid and 23-year-old Hassan al-Majid.

In a separate incident in the town of al-Tabiya, a war remnant exploded while a group of children were playing near an abandoned Iranian-backed militia post.

The explosion injured two children, including 9-year-old Saeed al-Ahmad al-Saleh.
