Wave of attacks target SDF, Asayish positions in Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A wave of attacks targeted on Sunday positions of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-zor, eastern Syria.

A source close to the SDF in Deir ez-Zor told North Press that unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle targeted the Public Prosecution building of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) and an Asayish checkpoint nearby in the town of al-Busayrah in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

The attack led to clashes between the two sides, resulting in material damage, while the assailants fled to an unknown location.

According to an official statement, the Asayish said that a group of ISIS militants on motorcycles launched an attack on the building on Sunday evening.

“Our forces immediately responded to the source of fire, forcing the attackers to flee without causing any casualties among our personnel,” the statement read.

The source also reported that an RPG attack targeted the house of an SDF fighter in the town of Abu Hamam, east of Deir ez-Zor. Fortunately, the attack caused no casualties or material damage.

In the town of Khsham, an SDF military facility came under fire from unknown gunmen on a motorcycle. The guards at the site responded, forcing the attackers to flee.
