SDF says Turkish forces escalate attacks near Kobani
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Saturday that Turkish forces and their affiliated armed factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), intensified their attacks around the Tishrin Dam and Qaraqozaq bridge near Kobani countryside, northern Syria.
The SDF stated that Turkish warplanes launched multiple airstrikes in the Tishrin Dam area, accompanied by heavy artillery shelling. The attacks caused significant damage to residential areas and their surroundings.
The statement added that, under the cover of air and artillery strikes, Turkish forces and SNA factions attempted an assault on an SDF position near Syriatel Hill, sparking clashes. However, SDF fighters successfully repelled an attack near Abu Qalqal.
The statement further detailed that several villages, including al-Tina, Ja’da, Bir Hesso, Ghasiq, Dikan, Malha, al-San’a, Telti, Sifi, and Qaraqozaq, came under intense, indiscriminate shelling. Turkish forces used heavy artillery, tanks, rocket launchers, and mortars, firing over 90 shells, which caused extensive material damage.
Meanwhile, the skies over Kobani, its countryside, and Ain Issa were dominated by continuous flights of warplanes and drones throughout the day, the statement concluded.
