Attacks on SDF, Asayish in Deir ez-Zor leave 2 injuries

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Two members of the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) were injured on Tuesday in separate attacks by unidentified gunmen in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.

A security source from the Asayish said that two armed men on a motorcycle opened fire with an automatic rifle on a vehicle belonging to Muaz Atallah, an Asayish member, in the village of al-Hissan in the north of Deir ez-Zor.

Atallah sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.

In a separate incident on the same day, two unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle targeted Ahmad al-Obeid, an SDF fighter, outside his home in the town of al-Breij in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, using a pistol. Al-Obeid suffered serious injuries.

The attacks come amid increasing security tensions in the region, with the SDF and Asayish forces frequently targeted by unknown assailants.
