Israeli airstrikes, ground incursion target sites in south Syria
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Israeli warplanes carried out on Wednesday airstrikes on several locations in Damascus and Daraa, coinciding with a ground incursion into the countryside of Daraa and Quneitra in southern Syria, local sources reported.
According to a source speaking to North Press, the Israeli Air Force struck positions in al-Kiswah city, south of Damascus, and Tel al-Hara in the north of Daraa, a site previously used as a Russian military base before the fall of the former regime.
The strikes also targeted Brigade 12 in the eastern countryside of Daraa, a military battalion near Busra al-Harir town, north of Daraa, and an agricultural airstrip in the same area.
The airstrikes were accompanied by a ground incursion that reached the outskirts of al-Bakar village in the west of Daraa, where Israeli forces reportedly detonated buildings inside a military compound before withdrawing under heavy gunfire.
Additionally, Israeli military vehicles advanced into the town of Ain al-Bayda in Quneitra Governorate, coinciding with surveillance drone activity. Locals suspect the move is preliminary reconnaissance for establishing a new military post, the source added.
So far, Syria’s caretaker government has not issued a statement regarding the Israeli strikes.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese National News Agency reported that two people were killed on Tuesday in an Israeli strike near the eastern Lebanese mountain range.
Israeli media sources confirmed that southern Syria, including Daraa, Suwayda, Quneitra, and parts of Rif Dimashq, had been heavily bombed.
The Israeli military stated that they targeted military sites in southern Syria, including headquarters and locations containing weaponry.
