General Security forces arrest former regime militant in Damascus
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced on Tuesday that one of its patrols was ambushed by an armed group linked to the former Syrian regime in Qaboun neighborhood in Damascus.
Abdul Rahman al-Dabbagh, the Director of Security for Damascus Governorate, confirmed that the attack resulted in the death of one patrol member and the injury of two others.
He added that security forces engaged in a confrontation with the gunmen, ultimately arresting the group’s members along with their leader, Fawzi Leila, a former military security officer under the previous regime, according to the ministry’s statement.
Media outlets had reported on Monday that clashes erupted between security forces and armed members affiliated with the former regime near Qaboun.
