US Forces Deliver Humanitarian Aid in Syria to Afrin IDPs

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – US forces provided humanitarian aid on Wednesday to displaced people from Afrin residing in Raqqa, northern Syria.

This marks the third time US forces have extended aid to IDPs from Tel Rifaat and Shahba, who are currently in Raqqa and Tabqa, following multiple meetings by US civil affairs teams with IDP representatives in the region.

Ongoing Crisis and Displacement

At the end of last year, approximately 100,000 people, mostly Kurds, were displaced from northern Aleppo countryside to areas under the Autonomous Administration’s control in Raqqa and Tabqa.

These IDPs continue to live in schools due to a lack of support from NGOs operating in north and east Syria.

Insufficient Aid Amid Harsh Conditions

Khulusi Basu, an official overseeing Tel Rifaat and Shahba IDPs, stated that this is the third batch of aid received in Raqqa, all provided by US forces.

According to Basu, the latest aid shipment includes 580 food baskets, which will be distributed among 1,100 families living in schools.

“Each food basket is meant for two families, containing ready-to-eat food, but the amount is very limited,” Basu told North Press.

Call for International Support

Basu urged international organizations and the UN to provide assistance to thousands of IDPs suffering under dire humanitarian conditions.

Despite repeated pleas, humanitarian aid remains scarce, leaving many families struggling to survive in overcrowded and inadequate shelters.
