French delegation meets with Syrian Kurdish dialogue parties in Qamishli
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A French delegation held on Sunday separate meetings with representatives from both sides of the intra-Kurdish dialogue in Syria, seeking to advance political unity and strengthen Kurdish representation in negotiations with Damascus.
Nusreddin Ibrahim, a negotiator representing the Kurdish National Unity Parties (PYNK), led by the Democratic Union Party (PYD), told North Press that discussions with the French delegation focused on drafting a joint political document, forming a unified Kurdish delegation to convey Kurdish demands to Damascus, and exploring the possibility of holding a Kurdish national conference in Syria.
“We also discussed the outcomes of the recent Paris conference on Syria,” said Ibrahim, who is also the Secretary of the Kurdish Democratic Party in Syria (al-Parti).
The French delegation later met with representatives of the Kurdish National Council (ENKS). A source from the council confirmed the meeting took place.
Both Washington and Paris support the intra-Kurdish dialogue process, which began under an initiative launched by General Mazloum Abdi, Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), in late 2019.
