Turkish shelling on Syria’s Hasakah kills elderly woman, injures 2 sons

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – An elderly woman was killed and two of her sons were injured on Friday morning following artillery shelling by Turkish forces and affiliated armed factions targeting the village of al-Zaydiyah in the countryside of Zarkan (Abu Rasin), north of Hasakah in northeastern Syria.

A local source told North Press that the Turkish forces and their affiliated armed factions fired a barrage of shells at contact lines in Zarkan’s countryside around 10 a.m.

Several shells struck the villages of al-Zaydia, al-Dalawiya, and Shor. The shelling resulted in the killing of Rahima Sabri, 65, from al-Zaydiyah, and left her two sons, Nasruddin Sabri and Ahmad Sabri, with minor injuries. Both were transferred to hospitals in Derbasiyah town for treatment.

The source added that the shelling also caused material damage to civilian properties.

Contact lines in the northern countryside of Hasakah witness near-daily shelling by the Turkish forces and their affiliated armed factions, frequently resulting in civilian casualties.
