QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – General Mazloum Abdi, commander-in-chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), on Monday condemned the car bomb attack that killed 21 people, mostly women, in Manbij, northern Syria.

The explosion, which targeted a group of female workers in the city, has sparked outrage and concerns over security in the region. The SDF quickly issued a statement denying any involvement in the attack and blaming Turkey-backed armed factions for the violence.

Abdi’s Reaction

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Abdi strongly denounced the attack and expressed solidarity with the people of Manbij. “We strongly condemn the bombings that targeted Manbij and stand in full solidarity with its residents,” he said.

He further described the attack as a direct threat to Syria’s social fabric, emphasizing the need to hold the perpetrators accountable. “These criminal acts threaten Syria’s national unity and must not go unpunished,” Abdi added.

Rising Tensions and Calls for Justice

The attack, one of the deadliest in recent months, has intensified tensions in Manbij, a city controlled by the SDF but frequently targeted by various militant groups. While no party has officially claimed responsibility, the SDF has pointed fingers at factions affiliated with Turkey, accusing them of attempting to destabilize the region.

As investigations continue, Abdi and other SDF leaders have called for greater security measures to prevent further attacks and ensure justice for the victims.
