Women protest inclusion of Kurdish politician’s killer in Syrian administration

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Hundreds of women protested on Saturday in the city of Qamishli, northeastern Syria, condemning the inclusion of Turkish-backed armed factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), and a leader linked to the assassination of Kurdish female politician Hevrin Khalaf in the new Syrian administration.

The protesters held up photos of Hevrin Khalaf along with documents implicating those responsible for her killing.

They specifically denounced the participation of Hatem Abu Shaqra, leader of the Ahrar al-Sharqiya faction, in the recent “Victory Conference” in Damascus, where Ahmad al-Sharaa was appointed president of Syria’s transitional phase.

Hatem Abu Shukra, whose real name is Ahmad al-Haiss, is accused of orchestrating the assassination of Hevrin Khalaf, Secretary-General of the Future Syria Party.

Khalaf, along with her driver and an aide, was brutally killed on Oct. 12, 2019, while traveling on the international highway to Raqqa.
