Mass grave found near former Iran-backed base in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Residents of the town of Sabikhan in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, discovered on Saturday a mass grave in the town’s desert area, containing six bodies.
A local source told North Press that the grave was found near a former base of the Afghan Fatemiyoun militia, that was fighting under Iran’s IRGC command.
“All the bodies belonged to boys around fifteen years old,” the source said. “Two of them were identified by silver bracelets on their wrists as Bedouin shepherds who went missing a year and a half ago when their flock was stolen.”
The source added that the remaining four bodies have not yet been identified.
The recovered remains were transferred to the town’s cemetery for proper burial.
