Israeli forces enter Syria’s Daraa, deploy in strategic positions

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – In the early hours of Thursday morning, Israeli forces advanced into the Yarmouk Basin area in western Daraa countryside.

A local source told North Press that Israeli troops moved toward the towns of Abidin and Jamla, establishing a presence at the Abidin military post, commonly known as the “Mortar Battalion.” Meanwhile, six military vehicles entered Jamla, patrolling its streets before withdrawing.

“The incursion took place at around 1:00 AM, but reconnaissance warplanes had been circling the area for nearly four hours beforehand,” the source added.

According to the source, Israeli forces used flares during their operation to illuminate the area, as the region overlooks a valley, making it necessary to cross difficult terrain to reach the other side.

Following the incursion, a state of lockdown has prevailed in the area, with residents remaining indoors and no movement reported since morning.

Israeli forces have carried out repeated incursions into Daraa and Quneitra since the fall of the previous Syrian regime, establishing military positions in the Quneitra countryside.
