QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The death toll from Turkish airstrikes on northern Syria has risen to at least 40 people, with around 250 others wounded, the Health Authority of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) revealed on Wednesday.

The report follows a wave of Turkish drone attacks on multiple civilian areas, including markets and residential districts, causing widespread casualties and destruction.

Latest Strikes on Civilians

According to the Health Authority, Turkish drones targeted a busy marketplace in the town of Sirrin on Tuesday, killing 12 civilians, including two children, and injuring 13 others. One child remains in critical condition.

In addition to Sirrin, other Turkish drone attacks struck civilians in different locations, resulting in the deaths of three more civilians, including a child, and injuring 11 others. Among the wounded are four children and three women.

The combined death toll from Turkish attacks in Sirrin and Zarkan has now reached 15 people, with 24 others injured.

Escalation of Attacks Since Early January

Since January 8, at least 24 civilians have been killed near Tishrin Dam, with an additional 221 wounded. The strikes have heavily impacted civilian infrastructure, forcing thousands to flee their homes amid ongoing bombardments.

Calls for International Intervention

The Health Authority has urgently called on the international community, human rights organizations, and humanitarian groups to intervene and halt what it describes as “continuous crimes against the residents of North and East Syria.”

Turkish military operations in northern Syria have escalated in recent weeks, targeting not only military positions but also civilian-populated areas. Local officials warn that the attacks threaten regional stability and worsen the humanitarian crisis.
