Jordan resumes operations in Free Zone with Syria
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Jordan announced on Monday the resumption of operations at the Syrian-Jordanian Free Zone, a move aimed at boosting trade and investment between the two countries.
Yanal Barmawi, spokesperson for Jordan’s Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply, stated that operations in the joint Syrian-Jordanian Free Zone resumed this morning following agreements on various procedural and technical arrangements.
The reopening followed a meeting on Sunday between Jordanian Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply Yarub Qudah and Qutaiba Badawi, Chairman of Syria’s General Authority for Land and Sea Ports.
During the General Assembly meeting of the Syrian-Jordanian Free Zone Company, both sides discussed operational mechanisms and arrangements to enhance the zone’s efficiency. They also explored ways to facilitate operations at the Jaber/Nasib border crossing to further promote trade and investment.
The two countries agreed to extend the working hours at the border crossings, transitioning to 24-hour operations starting in early February to better accommodate increased trade flow.
