SDF leader highlights coordination with Syria’s new administration

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A leader of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) emphasized on Friday the high level of coordination with the Military Operations Command of Syria’s new administration in Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, supervised by the U.S.-led Global Coalition.

Speaking to North Press, Abu Omar al-Idlibi, Commander of the Northern Democratic Forces, a component of the (SDF), stated, “As part of enhancing our coordination, we held a meeting in the Rasafah area between our forces, the Coalition, and the Military Operations Command.”

“Following the meeting,” al-Idlibi added, “the Command established its presence in the region.”

He noted that this deployment aims to address the security vacuum left after the collapse of the Syrian regime, which ISIS has exploited to launch attacks on SDF-controlled areas.

Separately, Farhad Shami, Director of the SDF Media Center, reiterated on Thursday the importance of dialogue with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS).

In a tweet on the X Platform, Shami said that the SDF is committed to intensifying dialogue with the HTS in the coming period to support the dreams and ambitions of Syrians in rebuilding the country and eliminating various threats.

Shami added that it is not in the interest of Syrians to have tension between the SDF and HTS, while accusing Turkish media of attempting to fabricate discord between the two parties.

The SDF Media Center also denied reports of clashes or tensions between its forces and the Military Operations Command in the Ramla oil field area near Rasafah.

The Media Center stressed that communication channels with Damascus remain open and active, with a unified stance prioritizing dialogue and solutions to political and field issues.

In a related development, SDF Deputy Spokesperson Sayel al-Zoubaa revealed in an interview with Al-Arabiya that the first round of negotiations with the new Syrian administration yielded positive outcomes.

He added that a second round of talks is planned, potentially hosted in Northeast Syria, with a possible invitation extended to Ahmad al-Sharaa to participate.
