Unknown gunmen attack SDF posts in Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Several attacks targeted on Sunday night posts and patrols of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the Deir ez-Zor countryside, eastern Syria.

According to a military source in Deir ez-Zor, unidentified gunmen attacked an SDF military patrol in the town of Abu Hamam, using a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG).

Tensions in eastern Syria continue to escalate, coinciding with increased activity by the Islamic State (ISIS) in the region.

The attack injured three SDF fighters, who were subsequently transported to Omar Military Hospital for treatment.

The source added that gunmen clashed with an SDF patrol in the towns of Gharanij and Hajin, also in the eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside. No casualties or injuries were reported during these encounters.

In another incident, unknown attackers targeted an SDF military post along the Euphrates River in the village of Daranj, leading to sporadic clashes. The fighting concluded without any reported losses.

Armed groups later released a video threatening the SDF and claiming allegiance to the so-called “Tribal Movement.” The group, led by Ibrahim al-Hefl and supported by Iran, issued warnings against the SDF in the video.
