Kurdish-led SDF Targets Two Turkish Bases in Syria’s Hasakah Amid Intensifying Clashes
By Kardo Roj
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Friday that they targeted two Turkish military bases in northern Hasakah in retaliation for Turkey’s recent attacks.
The SDF revealed in a statement that their forces conducted operations on Thursday, striking Turkish bases in the villages of Bab al-Faraj and Abdulhay in northern Hasakah countryside.
Turkish Proxy Forces Suffer Losses
According to the statement, the attacks resulted in casualties among the ranks of Turkey-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) forces. However, the SDF noted that it could not confirm the exact number of dead or injured.
The escalation is part of a broader confrontation, as Turkey continues to use drones and artillery against SDF positions in northern Syria.
Turkish Drone Strikes in Aleppo Region
The SDF also reported a Turkish drone strike in the Imam village, located in the eastern Aleppo countryside near Deir Hafer. The strike targeted an SDF position and involved the use of missiles.
In response, SDF units launched retaliatory attacks, destroying a military vehicle used by Turkish-backed forces.
Clashes Near Tishreen Dam
In the Tishreen Dam area, the SDF stated that they successfully repelled an assault by Turkish-backed factions on the Siritel hill. The clashes resulted in casualties among the attacking forces, and the SDF destroyed a weapons depot in the nearby village of al-Skaawiya.
Intensifying Violence
These developments highlight the intensifying violence between Turkey and the SDF in northern Syria, exacerbating tensions in a region already grappling with instability.
The SDF has repeatedly accused Turkey of targeting civilian areas and critical infrastructure, while Ankara claims its actions are aimed at ensuring national security.
This latest escalation underscores the fragile security situation in Syria’s north, where competing interests and frequent clashes continue to endanger the lives of civilians and further destabilize the region.
