Military Operations Command launches campaign in Syria’s Latakia

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Military Operations Command in Syria announced on Tuesday the launch of a military operation in the countryside of Latakia, western Syria, aimed at capturing members of the former Syrian regime.

A military source said the campaign was initiated following an attack by “remnants of the regime” against their forces in the village of Ain al-Sharqiyeh in the Latakia countryside. The source described it as “the largest military campaign to date.”

Since the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime on Dec. 8, the Military Operations Command has carried out several security campaigns under the banner of “pursuing remnants of the former regime” across various regions.

Earlier today, the Command dispatched reinforcements to the village of al-Masrya in the al-Qusayr countryside near the Syrian-Lebanese border. This came in response to clashes that reportedly erupted between its forces, Hezbollah members, and former regime loyalists.

According to media reports, the clashes occurred after an attempted advance by Hezbollah and former regime members from the al-Qusayr countryside towards the Homs refinery, prompting a response from the Military Operations Command.
