Biden urges next U.S. administration to prevent ISIS resurgence in Syria

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – U.S. President Joe Biden urged on Monday the next administration to prioritize preventing the resurgence of the Islamic State (ISIS) in Syria following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime.

During a speech at the U.S. Department of State, Biden stated “The next administration must make sure the fall of Assad does not lead to the resurgence of ISIS in Syria across the region.”

He emphasized the importance of upholding America’s commitment to preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

Biden’s term as president is set to conclude on January 20, when Donald Trump assumes office as the new president of the United States.

Biden highlighted his administration’s achievements, stating they have laid the diplomatic and geopolitical groundwork to enhance stability in the Middle East, resolve the conflict between Israel and Hamas, and support a just peace for Ukraine.

Biden also remarked on the challenges posed by Iran, asserting that Iran’s attacks on Israel have failed. He declared that the post-Cold War era had ended and that the United States is winning.

Biden also noted the U.S. has mobilized over 20 countries to protect shipping lanes in the Red Sea from Houthi attacks and successfully thwarted Iran’s efforts against Israel by uniting nations to confront them.

He concluded by stating that Iran and Russia have failed to keep Bashar al-Assad in power, and expressed optimism, saying, they are on the brink of achieving a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
