SNA factions continue thefts, violations in Syria’s Manbij
MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) – Residents of Manbij in northern Syria have voiced growing concerns over escalating security chaos and widespread thefts attributed to the Turkish-backed armed factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA).
Local sources from the village of al-Awsajli, near Manbij, reported numerous violations, including theft of property and intimidation of civilians with live gunfire. “Residents are being terrorized, and their property is being looted,” one source told North Press.
The SNA factions seized control of Manbij following the withdrawal of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). However, according to local residents, their presence has brought corruption and instability to the area.
In a plea for intervention, al-Awsajli villagers called on authorities to address the abuses, arbitrary arrests, and thefts committed by these factions.
One reported incident involved the robbery of a moneychanger who was stripped of $40,000 while traveling between the villages of al-Huthan and al-Atshana al-Gharbiya.
Tensions escalated further when SNA militants arrested a man in rural Manbij after he attempted to prevent them from stealing items from his home.
