U.S. diplomats discuss recent developments with Syrian FM

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The U.S. Embassy in Damascus announced on Monday that American officials held discussions with Asaad al-Shibani, Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs in the caretaker government, regarding the latest developments in the country.

According to a statement shared on the embassy’s social media platforms, the talks addressed several key issues, including the ongoing situation within Syria, the importance of ensuring inclusive representation for all Syrians in the political transition process, and the role of diversity in strengthening the nation. 

The statement further highlighted the encouragement extended to cooperate with the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) to advance relevant initiatives.

Separately, the U.S. State Department announced earlier in the day that Secretary of State Antony Blinken plans to meet with European foreign ministers in Rome on Thursday to discuss Syria.
