Military Operations Command deploy reinforcements to Syria’s Daraa
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – The Military Operations Command dispatched on Sunday reinforcements to the northern countryside of Daraa in southern Syria, signaling preparations for a potential security operation against the former Syrian regime’s forces.
A security source told North Press that military reinforcements, including machine guns and shells, had been deployed to the vicinity of Sanamayn city.
On Saturday night, the city of Sanamayn in northern Daraa witnessed intense clashes between members of the Southern Operations Room, affiliated with the Military Operations Command, and a group led by Mohsen al-Hamid, a former operative of the military security branch under the previous regime.
The source stated that the reinforcements were intended to support a security operation targeting al-Hamid’s group, described as “regime remnants.”
The source further revealed that negotiations had been attempted to persuade the group to surrender without necessitating military action. However, the group refused to relinquish their weapons.
Following the clashes, a curfew was imposed in the city. Moreover, a young civilian was killed by a stray bullet during the violence near Sanamayn.
