Landmine blast kills young man in Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A landmine explosion claimed on Sunday morning the life of a young man and severely injured a child in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

According to a local source, the incident occurred near a dirt road in the town of Sayyal near the town of Abu Kamal in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

The explosion took place as a group of shepherds attempted to cross the road towards the desert.

The blast resulted in the death of 19-year-old Hadi al-Aid and critically injured 12-year-old Ramzi al-Fattah. The injured child was rushed to Aisha Hospital in Abu Kamal, where his condition remains critical, according to family members.

Residents continue to plead with the relevant authorities to expedite the removal of landmines, highlighting the growing number of fatalities and injuries caused by these deadly remnants of war.
